Yes... that drinking group with a running problem did it again. And just in time as many Hashers need some exercise before Mashramani and of course ... plenty of excuses to drink beer ... ahhhhh.

Well, as of this morning we no longer have a run this afternoon!!!!

Yes, I guess this run was just not meant to be.

First of all, Bank Cock texted me last week to say that she was busy with work related matters ... like that really matters.... the hash rules are

1) "Thou shalt have no other activity in front of the Hash"

2) "The R. A. is always right"

3) " In case of R. A. error, see 2)

4) " There are no rules"

Then believe it or not, The main hare calls me up today and calls it off because "it is too wwww wet and cccccc cold and we (the hares) dont want to go out in the rain to set the run". Too much traffic in the area, mud, water, etc. (In Kingston and along the seawall !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Now, as good, vigorous, healthy, horny, raucous hashers should know, the hash goes on in any weather
and on or in any terrain.

In other words, no matter what, there should be a hash when scheduled. Yes we know gone are the days when we had 50 mud-to-the-waist hashers doing down-downs in Palm Court, after having run in slush behind New Hope backdam, or swimming GuySuCo Trenches/Canals! But come on people, a little rain????!!!!????

Shameful!!! Our dear departed R.A. is sure to be turning over in her grave (oops sorry Moldy!) Our R. A. in training is sure to have something to say about that!!!!

Anyhow, first of all, the run has been put off until next week Saturday i.e. Feb 04 2012 at 3pm in front of the BHC. Therefore Bank Cock no longer has an excuse for not setting the run with the other hares!

Next, those of you who read this blog but are not on the email list, please let us have your addy's and we will keep you up to date.

According to sources, the run after next will be hared by King Solo. Jr. on Sat. 11th 2012. We hope so, our hare line is looking a bit sparse ... maybe I should go out and buy a wig!

Remember you can volunteer to set a run at anytime and in any place as long as we have time to work out the logistics of transporting the beer to site ... (food is if little importance) does anyone want to give and Easter Rodeo Hash another try? Spermbank should be a useful hare considering that the last time he set a hash was Easter 2008!!

Now, about the last run.

As you may remember, our last installment of the GHHH was on Sunday 15th Jan at 10am.

The hashers as usual turned up at the BHC between 10 and 11, which meant that Yes we were late!!

Never mind .. we had a pretty good turn out there of about 34 hashers, which grew by the time we got up to the Highway Junction.

The G. M. set a nice simple trail that started at the back of Garib Farms and after about 10 mins of scrub and brush running, ended up on sand trails and then the circuit roads, all the way to The Jardim's place.

Now we ask that persons coming to the hash let us know so we can plan on food and drinks .. what we started off with was about 39, what we ended up with was 52. Now considering that we catered for 40, it means that by the time the down downs were done, we were short on beer, and the food, well the less said the better.

All in all though, a very successful run both financially, and in terms of the hashy scale (7.5) not bad for a quickly thrown together thingy by one person!

Jason and Tabitha got named:

Jason, despite the fact that he did not quite make the requisite runs, was leaving, so this being his home kennel, he got a name .. despite the fact that he is a malariologist etc got the name "First to Cum" coz he is a front runner ... or is that really the reason?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Tabitha was named (despite the rumour that she was responsible for the medevacing of her boyfriend with a terrible awful horrendous flesh and brain rotting disease!!!!!!,) "Cat in Heat"..... hhmmmmm!!! Does somebody know something that I dont?

After all necessary persons were deposited in the OOL, including those who had sprung leaks and were trying to avoid being wet .... no excuse .. it's red water anyhow!!!!!!!!

This being the first run of the year, hares for the nest run were volunteered by the GM .... Terrence Reid, Bank Cock, and one other nameless person (at the moment anyhow).

Next installment of this Hash Trash hopefully next week after (if?) we survive whatever the hares throw at us.

THE FIRST HASH OF 2012 Happy New Year

Happy New year to one and all!!!

This year, the G2H3 (Georgetown, Guyana Hash House Harriers) hope to have a smashing year..... only the hashers can make it so!!

Now backing up a bit to last year ... .... ..... The hash party was a reasonable success, Thanks to Swampy's house and pool, Apple Bottom Bitch's cooking and ChopSuzuki's BBQ skills oh and a little help from BOOZE!!! We were somewhat disappointed by the fact that less than 1/4 of the current hash numbers showed up, and even more disappointed by the fact that so few hashers brought bottles along. (And there I was hoping that the hash would not have to buy and vodka or rum for at least 3 months!!)

Ah well, Que Sera, Sera!

A good time was had by all (well almost all). For some reason, despite the email going out to say hashers only, a number of persons did bring guests, (who did not bring bottles!!) and obviously said guests were not told about the Hash, or the fact that the party was a pool party!! We had persons turning up in short gold Lame dresses with 4 inch heels and other bits and pieces (without bottles)!!

Others turned up without swimsuits, others brought swimsuits, but never got into the ool (notice there is no "P" in that or at least we hoped not!!!) Well, some people came wet, some became wet and others had wetness thrust upon them!!!! Hi Rosie the Rack!!!

All in all a moderately resounding success!!!!

Now back to the important stuff Fast forward to the distant future .... ... .. The Guyana Suriname Hash tie up will take place in Mid March of this year (that is 16-17th March 2012). Hashers who wish to attend, should visit the Suriname Embassy to obtain Visas and if you are driving across, get Suriname insurance from local insurance companies.

We will definitely need to know numbers for this hash, since hotel accommodation and food have to be dealt with. In this situation, money needs to be paid up front, so that you can be booked in.
Iboibo, Nicholas Frazer and Highway Doucher are currently in Suriname checking out the trail possibilities, accommodations and misc. costs.

I believe that a lump sum payment that includes all transportation (unless you are driving across) accommodation and food (and booze maybe) will be levied. Information to be published at a later date.

Now Back To The Present The first run of the Guyana Hash will be held Sunday January 15th, 9am at the BHC...it will be a all day hangout up on the Highway. Further details to come

The Last Hash of the Year!!!!!

Well another year of hashing has come and gone (sob!), and we are into Xmas shopping and mania.

The G2H3 would like to xtend greetings to all of you whoa have been hashing with us this year, and encourage you to come along next year January when we will be up and at em again.

Just to let you know, the Linden moonlight hash came off with a resounding "splat", leaving us with yet another in the red Linden Run. Which makes 4 losing Linden runs in a row, leading me too believe that either Linden is cursed, or that hashers just dont like Linden.

Accordingly, we will not have any further Linden runs unless sufficient hashers pay for it up front.

On a much lighter note, somebody was mentioning a hash party .... now under normal circumstances, we would ask you to pay hash cash for said party, but the hash can afford to pay for the food, and we will ask you to bring in drinks (Rum/Vodka/Tequilla whatever) while we buy the beer.

Next question would then be When and where?

Suggestions?

"Moonlight" Hash #621 and "In-Dust-Trail Revisited" Hash #622

And the drinking group with a running problem found another excuse to do what they do best!! (Like we needed one!) As usual persons showed up late and we weren’t able to attract 1 single Hasher with a vehicle. So unaffected the 11 hashers took the bus up to Linden. The visitors took to their hotels and were ready to start.

Full Moon Hash #621 “Moonlight” Hash
The first GH³ Full Moon Hash was a hit even though it took the 16 hashers with torch lights over 2 hours to finish the trail in the moonlight. Through the village and a creek they went and Mouldy Ho almost made it a 'hash and a boxing match' with the bar-tender at the Beer-Stop; so there was lots of entertainment to say the least. The ON-IN was held at 1-koker where the RA+Acting GM carried the group through the ceremonial drinking - Hares got theirs, virgins deflowered and accusations made.
After little deliberation Chelsea Tibbs shall now be forever known as “FAT POKE”.
Having hashed half the night some continued drinking and some were too drunk to continue and some returned to the apartment just in time to have breakfast and start the “In-Dust-Trail Revisited” Hash (Not calling any names – ‘Rack’).

The 11-person “walk” began not so promptly at 10:30am took over 2½ hours to complete going through the old aluminum plant, past creeks and we almost lost a few hashers in the sand pits but thankfully everyone made it back to Hairy Pussy & Fat Poke’s house for the ON-IN.
Once again and this time for the final time our beloved RA started the ON-IN and handed over to Hairy Pussy to handle the administrative issues and accusations. The Hash also had a few drinks to the Hash on its 22nd Birthday … cheers to the Hash !!!

There being no other business the hashers retired to the bus park to return to GT.

The Halloween Hash (Run # 617)

Well now the Halloween hash went off with a bang, despite the trail having been washed out by torrential rains the night before, causing the hares to panic, and go dashing off in all directions, sending a flurry of worried emails to yours truly asking if they should cancel the run!!!

We met up at the BHC at 2pm as was advertised with about 33 percent of those present in some form of costume, but this being guyana, did not leave there till 2.35.

Never mind ... most of the runners did end up at the Felicity sign, more of them in costume, and yes believe it or not we did start the run by 3.15.

The hares had to do last minute alterations to the trail, which resulted in it being a partial live hare run looping back upon itself, which allowed the latecomers to join the main pack midway thru the run. (hares claim the latter part of the trail was too muddy -- shame hares! this is the hash!)

All in all not a bad run for a 3 hour desperation setting!!

The hash bypassed the cars and ended up directly at the on on site, at which point things became interesting.

Two quick trips to get drives back for the vehicles, and we then settled down for an extremely well lubricated circle with lots of sinners, accusations and yes one naming.

During the circle one of the Linden Peace corps contingent who used to be known as Timothy Tibbs, was heard to say that there was just too much beer. Now as any good hasher knows, it is not possible to have too much beer at any point in time anywhere.

Young master Tibbs was then told of his transgression, and the ever correct GM suggested that he be named for his sins. After a voracious pack of hashers descended on the food and ate the hares out of house and home, the naming ceremony took place and young master Tibbs will forever be known as "
Hairy Pussy".

Deaf Lesbian said his fare thee wells to all, this being his last run ... (you will be missed not DEF L.) and one of the hares was punished for misspelling Deaf's name.

Stunningly, there was still beer left over after the on on was over!

Anyhow, the Next run of the Guyana Hash House Harriers will be held on Saturday 12th November 2011, and will be Hared by Christine and crew!!!

Costumed Halloween Hash (SUNDAY 30 October 2011) Run#616

This is DEF L’s LAST HASH in Georgetown!

Meet up at British High Commission at 2:00 PM sharp; bring a vehicle if possible.

On-In will be at the Felicity village sign @ 2:45 near the seawall just prior to Grand Coastal and beer-burgers, hotdogs, potato salad and other grilled foods will be the entrees.

Well, it's time for the Guyana Hash House Harriers to take a trip to da West Coast.

This hash run will be planned and hosted by Carrissaand Mark.

The trail is promised to be interesting and challenging...and maybe just a little bit tricky for you FRB's!

TheOn-In will be in Uitvlugt and home-made southern BBQ chicken will be
the entree for the meal (I have a grill and I know how to use it).

So cumm (who said cumm) and join us for a fun run (stagger?) through Georgetown! Again, just to ensure you gaffing wankers understand, you must wear RED! If you don't wear RED, don't cum!

Now, let us discuss Hash Naming. First thing we learn about hashing is that there are no rules but there are traditions. Names are suppose to relate to the hasher being named. Ideally it should be two words, a name should roll off the tongue with a minimum of syllables. You don't want to be panting from chasing the frickin' FRB Hare and shouting "Hey, He Who Farts Like A Cow, where is the Beer Near?"

Here are some examples:

I was named for my job, I was working with mold = Moldy Ho

One can be named for something physical = Deaf Lesbian (he can tell you about the lesbian part!)

Can be named for something on the hash:

Friend of mine always rode his big hog motorcycle to the hash = Hog StrattleHER

Another friend pass out on her first hash, stayed down on the ground with both hands clutching the grass = Field Tester

Can be name stemming from one's own name:

Had a friend Jay Lamb = EWE Fucker

You get the idea...

We will be naming Tony this week and what do we know about him... He is: White, tall, American, member of US Peace Corps (hmmm just thought of a good one), teaches Physiology to nursing student in Linden and he is usually the FRB of the Georgetown H3. Think we should be able to think of some good names that relate to Tony.

Hey now, don't let it be said that the HM is not appreciative of hashers when they go out of their way to be helpful to the Hash!!

I am happy to give Iboibo the Shitty Trail award, with a hash rating of 7.5.

Ibo set the trail on Saturday morning all by himself, going thru dangerous territory, being chased by dogs and being threatened by the various inhabitants of deepest darkest Sophia.

We were pleasantly surprised to have a grand total of 30 hashers on this one, normally Saturday town runs are less than well attended!

Anyhooo, off we went happily running thru Prashad Nagar, blissfully unaware of all the hare had in store for us!!! Yeah good sunshine, 2 beer stops expected and what was believed to be an easy run ahead. YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!!

After the first check point where most of the hash lost flour (yes the trail was set mostly with flour ... Bakewell we see why your bread is so small!!!!) things got progressively more difficult.

We ended up running a good half mile on rotted wooden planks, precariously perched atop thin cross pieces, the uprights of which were sunk deep in an unmentionable substance that had been sitting in place for a number of years, forming a deadly swamp. Heavy people one at a time please!!

Then back out of the wood and concrete jungle and on to the East Coast Highway...... running along with the 100kph traffic coming up from behind us, one of the hashers, the soon to be named Andrew decides that it is safer to jump into a trench!! (He claims he was looking for the trail!).

Then through Bel Air Village with the first beer stop being easily and eagerly sniffed out by thirsty hashers, and pillaged, across Conversation Tree road, through Bel Air Gardens, out onto Sherriff Street, across into Subryanville, back around past Mae's School, onto Sherriff Street again, cross at he lights, then hang a left, past Kanuku Suites, and the 2nd beer stop, On On in to Iboibo's place and a wild alcohol drenched hash circle.... downdowns with Vodka, 7 virgins deflowereed on Iboibo's driveway, 1 visitor welcomed, and the book was opened for Andrew's name.

Dinner (German's Grub yum yum!) and more alcohol, followed by the solemn ceremony of the naming:- Andrew joins the ranks of the named and shall henceforth and forever be known as "Cookie Tossing Fucker"

Just by the way during the Santa Mission Hash, Marissa Hussein was named "Tree Way Tramp" and Marcia Akeung was named "Chick With A Dick"

Further alcohol and the hash broke up because the Beer was done....horrors who ws responsible for that debacle Oh! Me!

Anyway, repairs to ibo's places are ongoing, something about barf eating the tiles .......

After Run # 612

All: Great Hash at Santa Mission. Kudos go out to the Hares but also special kudos to Chop Suzuki for all of his continued great work with the Hash and in particular for putting all of the logistics together for this Hash and all the others.

I have been hashing for close to 25 years and I can tell you that no Hash can survive on one person alone. Chop continues to do a stellar job but he cannot keep this up as a one man team. He needs everyone's support. The GH3 requires a strong committee to succeed. CHop can be the GM but he needs a Hash Cash, Hash Trash (someone to write up the stories, update the webpage, etc.), Hash Trail master (someone to sign people up in advance as Hares), Hash Haberdasher (get the shirts, etc), Hash Beermeister (get the food), Religious Advisor (we have that now), etc.

There is no need for me to ask people to volunteer. You must do so on your own. Once the Hash gains enough routine attendance and enjoyment by all, it will be an honor to take on these roles and it will become competitive. This Hash was once at that level and could be getting back to it but the next step requires volunteers. I cannot lie and say that I will volunteer bc I won't. I work in two countries (here and Suriname) and thus cannot commit to that. That said, as you all saw I am am more than willing to step in as Acting GM, ACting RA or whatever when needed when here.

The time is now for people (Hashers) who love this Hash to step up. If all step up, the big job for one person become little jobs for many.

On a separate note, and as noted today, I have volunteered to Hare the next hash on Sat September 10 at my house in Prashad Nagar. The problem is, I no longer have my Hash shoes (the only running shoes I own and my Hash shoes for the last ten years). As such, before I lock in this next Hash, I need feedback from whomever who might know where my shoes ended up. they were on the dock when we ended up back from the trip today but they were not loaded into my SUV. If anyone has found my shoes or knows of their whereabouts it would be a big help. Without them I am not certain I can hare until I get new shoes which wont happen until late October if the shoes are gone for good.

Welcome word back on my shoes and welcome volunteers to step forward and contact Chop about future assistance for one of the many positions open at this time.

The Santa Mission Hash Update

payment and we are not sure of anybody until they pay.

with transportation costs being what they are, we will not do this run until we have at least a full boat load.

Its really not worth our while to carry in all of that stuff for 7 people

Run Number :   524 ish   The pleasant walk (ya lazy bums)

The Hares were Helen “makes me fart” Jenkinson, and Trevor "Front running paperless bastard" Smithet
with a grand total of 18 runners (stretching it a bit).

Well The second run of the year is over and done with, and shame on all of you hashers who were just too lazy to get your butts off your sofas and did not turn up .

Started off from Makes me fart’s place in Lamaha Gardens at around 3.45pm

It was a leisurely stroll around the back of Lamaha Gardens, into Sophia past the water pump, and into the squatting area. Past Mercy wings home/school, back around to the Sophia Main road (which runs up to UG) back through Lamaha Gardens to Helen’s place.

All in all for a rush job, it was a good one, and got a score of 8.1 for dedication and effort, Helen having been out as usual til the Wednesday before.

Last Hash, Peace Corps volunteers rolled out in force for two Shitty
Linden trails! Behold, pictures of all the fun that most of you (no,
not you Deaf Lesbian and Hash Hoochie) missed!

Saturday's trail, N-Dust-Trail, had us up and down sand pits, slogging
through muddy, swampy, flatlands, ducking under bushes on a never
ending horse trail, clambering over two rickety wooden bridges and
sneaking our way under the rusty, monolithic, long forgotten and
abandoned aluminum factory. All with shots of RUM along the way. On
on!

After a killer On On, where Moldy Ho led us in an array of filthy new
Hash songs we debauched through the night and woke to breakfast and
then hit Sunday's trail, Hangover Hill.

True to its name, the trail was up and down sand hills, canyons, valleys and more
freakin sand hills.

Although that trail was shorter, it required more endurance.
I think we may have even seen Suckme Suckme sitting down on trail, that Sinner!
Even our fearless leader, ChopSuzuki fell for some evil false trails and looked a wee bit haggard at the On on.

How To Set a Hash Run

Whilst setting a hash is similar the world over, there are local variations caused by a) where the originator of the particular kennel first started hashing, b) financial considerations, c) local customs, d) litter laws (how well they are enforced) e) terrain.

Here in Guyana, the Hash uses Shredded Paper (usually US embassy secrets, but sometimes UK High Commission secrets, and of late GUYSUCO secrets .... they really don't want people to know how they are wasting the money!), although flour may be used if the trail is mostly on road. During wet season, the flour washes away, and in the bush, insects eat it, and the colour is normally too close to the colour of the surrounding sand.

In Georgetown and it's environs, a small amount of paper (half a handful) every other lantern post or even every 200 yards will suffice to mark trail. Outside of G/T more paper should be used, since people tend to believe we are working black magic on them when they see us laying the paper, and tend to shift it. Kids also have a habit of playing with the shreddies.

A single pile of paper indicates the trail for the hounds to follow, and as long as paper is laid at decent intervals and not too well hidden, the hashers will find and follow it.

Check points: two piles of paper laid side by side will indicate a check point. Check points a) make the trail more interesting b) cruel, c) evil, d) fun, e) and allow the tail enders to do some catching up.

Hares (those setting the run) should always indicate beforehand the number of people who must reach the check point, before the hashers are allowed to continue on .. note hares do not count in that number, they are not persons!! Under normal circumstances 7 - 10 is a good number. However, when in Jungle terrain, it is always better to increase the number. The more people on the hash, the more it spreads out .... the tail enders have been known to come on in about 1/2 hr after the front runners!!, so the more hashers, the more false trails, the better.

After the check point it is customary to have 2 or more trails going off in differing directions, with the first pile of paper being placed anywhere within 300yds of the check point. Hashers are encouraged to call out "On On" when they encounter the paper piles. this is especially important in bush since we run a very real risk of getting lost in unfamiliar territory.

Tit Check: normally a circle of paper with a central dot, indicating that female members of the hash should go checking for the trail, whilst the men lounge around and watch the rear view of said female members as they go.

Dick Check: a newly suggested check point that currently does not have a sign, where the male members must go look for trail.

The False Trail: the false trail is any trail that is not the real one. A false trail can be of any length (some have been 1 mile long), but must be clearly marked at its end by a false trail sign.

The False Trail Sign: this is three piles of paper arranged in a triangle. more paper is usually used for this sign than normal. At the false trail sign hashers are supposed to call "False Trail" and return to the point where the check point was seen.

A hash trail can be of almost any length, but most commonly is between 3 and 7 miles long (including the false trails), although we have have a few 10 and 12 milers.
The trail may also be of any shape, circle and square being the most common. Care must be taken to ensure that if the trail crisscrosses, there is no confusion between the on trail and the back trail.

In areas of agriculture, the trail should be kept away from plant beds, no matter how over grown they look ... those bushes might be food!!

A local guide is usually very useful if you are setting a trail in jungle that you don't know. they may be able to make suggestions that will make the run more interesting (Chinese style interesting).

FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS: The hash normally asks $2,000.00 for a town (G/T) run and more for out of town runs. In most cases $2,500.00 is sufficient for an out of town run, but these costs are calculated on a 20 runner hash, with food from German's Restaurant (we have an arrangement ... $12,000.00 for food), and a maximum of $30,000.00 for drinks, ice, plates, cups etc.

Food costs vary according to location, but in most cases should not exceed $15,000.00.

Beers, the life blood of the hash (Banks) can be purchased from any wholesaler, and the hash has a supply of bottles that is used to exchange ... regular Banks bottles are recycled and a deposit is paid when you purchase beer without the bottles.

Please ensure that all regular banks beer bottles are returned to the Dicktator.

The normal meeting place for the G/T hash is in front of the British High Commission as being the most central point for every one (but mainly because the first Guyana hashers were British!!!).
Time of meeting depends mainly of where the run will be held. The further away it is, the earlier the meeting.

Of late, most hashes have been held on Sunday, because most of the local hashers work on Saturdays, but this is not set in stone, only as a convenience.

Note: a new hare will usually be paired with a veteran hare. Again not set in stone, but it works out better since the vet knows how to set trail, and the newbie may have new trail ideas/locations.

Now that you have been given the salient points about setting a hash run, get out there, volunteer and set one!!!!

Well, everybody's clothes survived Merissa's onslaught more or less, and everybody got to the on on intact... yay hash!

picture for this post would be appreciated, since the Dictator did not go on this run, sending the grand mattress in his stead.

New virgins were deflowered and sinners duly punished.

From there we will travel to Linden for a One Day Run, accommodations is being checked for those who wish to stay in Linden overnight. Transportation will be arranged for those who do not or cannot find a seat for the trip out. The hash cash is two thousand Guyana dollars. Thanks to the Hares Allen (Deaf Lesbian) and Nicolas we got a tour of Georgetown. The Hash began at 4pm after welcoming some new members and out of town visitors. Beginning at the British High Commission the streets of Georgetown offered many false leads. One joyful twist to the run was the adoption of 'women only' searches for false trails. This devious policy was introduced by Deaf Lesbian, and idea born from a different hash house, nevertheless enthusiastically accepted by the men of GHHH. The run took us through Georgetown, the ever so lovely Lamaha Canal, Thomas Lands, a brief respite at the seawall and then onto the cricket grounds.

Well now we finally have the pictures for the second run of the year!!! Thanks Jessica (finally)!!

the Hash met at the British High Commission at about 9.30 in the am and after some waiting headed off into the wild green yonder!

After a couple of breakdowns and persons losing themselves on the perfectly straight road, we finally got up to Joe and Christine's place around 11am.

So here we have this miscellaneous group of assorted perambulators, joggers and runners just sort of hanging around.

Seem to be a bunch of them doing unusual things...
hhmmmmm maybe he took a dump and some else is burying it?

The first part of the run was along good, firm, open, sand covered roads or trails as you may call them (we do).

The hot bright sun blazing down on us poor suffering hashers makes us wonder "are we insane to be out here?" ... but as the saying goes "no one but mad dogs, Englishmen and Hashers out in the noon day sun"

Well we are back after an extremely successful first run (35 persons with about 10 virgins) for the year 2011, with yet another run

This one is scheduled for Sunday January 30th at 3pm. We will meet at the British High Commission on Main street, and from there the Hares (Gypsy Bitch and John Singh) will let us know where we are going.

It would be useful if you were to let us know if you will be coming, since that will help us with the catering.

Hash Cash for this run will be $1500.00

Well it's a New year and the hash is starting it off with a bang!!

The first run of the year is scheduled for January 16th, meeting at the BHC at 9.30am (main Street).

From there we will head up to Timerhi for the run, and end up at the Jardim's place ... for those of you who know it it is in the vicinity of the old Tuck Shop. Swimsuits, whilst nice, are optional!!

Just to let you all know that yes the Hash still exists, and yes we will be hosting runs in the new year.

However, as HM I would just like to say that there are many of you out there hanging around uselessly who are on the hash shit llist for not setting runs..for 2 to 3 years...

Our first run for the year 20011 is due to be hosted by Suckstache and Rubberduckie yet again and it will be held on the 2nd or 3rd Sunday in January.'

Well joyful news for the Hash!!

We had an extremely fun and successful run up in Timerhi!!

Meeting in front of the British High Commission at 9am on Sunday morning (yawn!!, Stretch!!! ... where's my coffee????), the numbers of people on this particular run were stunning .... a grand total of 35 people turned up to test themselves against what the Hash had to throw at them!!

We stood around waiting for others to join us, and your honoured Hash Master/ Religious Advisor registered attendees. As usual the Hash finally decided to move off at 10am, when Rum In Her Crack arrived giving us sufficient transport for all.

After a pleasant drive up to the Timerhi Circuit, during which some of the vehicles managed to get lost, we finally got into the parking area of the Jardim's place, where "Suckstache" and "Rubber Duckie" were waiting for us.

After orienting the 15 (yay "I'm going down") virgins who were with us on this run and showing them an example of the shredded paper that they would be following, the Hash set off down the trail that lead up to the property.

Round the corner and down the road, or trail whatever!!!!

AAAAhhhh, out into the wild green yonder!!

And straight away we see a blue, flat footed, gray crested technology user!!! These interesting denizens of the forest floor are a rare but undesirable sight on the Hash.

A short time later, further up the trail we have a quick glimpse of the backs of a trio of long legged forest walkers, an all too common sight whilst on a hash. It may be that this influx of forest walkers have displaced the more rare forest runners from their natural habitat.

Continuing on the trail, the hashers meet their first check point of the day.

Now for those of you who have never seen a check point, let me say that they are a very common phenomena on a hash trail, probably waste left behind by the hares which also use these trails.

The effect of these double piles on the hashers is curious, in that it causes them to come to a sudden stop in the middle of the trail and they begin to mill around making them perfect targets for the miscellaneous hunters in the area.

Fortunately for the herd of hashers, there seems to be a maximum load that can be accommodated on the trail, and after about 10 or 12 individuals have milled around for a short time, the herd suddenly scatters in various directions. About a minute later, cries from various members of the herd can be heard "ON ON!!" from about 3 different directions, some in quite dense jungle.

As with all herding animals, however they must find one another, and finally chose a single trail to follow, perhaps being frightened by the terrible False Trail piles which lurk in the tall grass by the sides of many trails that Hares use.

With the herd of hashers finally on the move together again, we continue to follow them through the jungle, the herd having turned away from the wider more used trails, onto smaller harder to see trails, seemingly with a specific destination in mind.

The herd finally breaks out of the close jungle and encounter a manmade miracle ..... a wide strip of black savannah .. used by man the great predator to hunt hashers.

The herd nervously breaks into a canter, turning onto this strip and proceeding on in the blazing sun, with stragglers now a far distance in the rear.

As the herd of hashers canters off into the distance, we see one of the everpresent predators attempting to catch a hasher.

With a qiick dash to the right, the herd charges into the bush again, avoiding the hunter, and continuing on their way!!

Back in the jungle, passage of the herd brings out the other animals .. here we see what we later find out is called a greater white legged "BankCock."

Suddenly a large portion of the herd vanishes, having turned off on to a separate trail which is unmarked by the passage of the hares, meanwhile the smaller portion continues on following the hare trail, further into the bush, down hills, through glades and then up other hills.

The remaining portion of the herd is now widely scattered along the jungle trail, perhaps sensing that they are safe and close to their destination.

Surprisingly after a few twists and turns in the trail ... there it is the destination ... right back where the herd started from ... the watering hole!!! And another surprise the missing portion of the herd is there ahead of them, having SHORT CUTTED on the back trail.

Some time later, the tail end of the herd comes up through the front gates led by the individual well known for such antics "Front Running Paperless Bastard" whichclaims it was following arrows!!!

At the On On, the 16 virgin (not any more!!) hashers are introduced to the rest of the thundering herd, and a large group of sinners comprising of 2 technology users, one pair of PDOA specialists (Public Display Of Affection bleah yuk), and a big bunch of shortcutters were justly punished by the HM/RA.

Here we see a rare image of a "Rubber Duckie" preparing food for the herd, which must be fed regularly.

After feeding and in pouring rain the herd moved to the water hole and proceeded to turn it into a death trap when all herd members began walking and then running in the same direction, creating a whirlpool of monumental proportions.

Two herd individuals were named on this occassion ... Sefa is now known to the herd as "BankCock", and Vivian has been dubbed "Antz in her Pantz."

Well all. we got off another pretty successful run on Saturday...16 runners and 3 DNR's who turned up at the On On.

This run took the Hash to the Blacka .... and for those of you who don't know what that is... that is the part of the Lamaha canal that passes through tha back of the Botanical Gardens.

The run started in MeadowBrook Gardens with 10 virgins, and 5 veteran hashers and the Hare yours truly, ChopSuzuki. Nice area that almost nobody knows about.

From there the trail lead up onto the conservancy dam, where a check point sent the hash scattering all over the map on 4 (count em 4) false trails which took people into Sophia and along the dam in the direction of the airport .. just 26 miles to go!!

The real trail lead down the conservancy dam through swamp, bush and an overgrown bamboo patch about 100 feet wide, where the hashers had to crawl to get under the overhanging branches, across a trench on limps of mud and logs then another dam where people were squatting, into the back of the old botanical gardens, across the conservancy by a bridge, where a false trail took hashers back into Sophia for a short distance, the through Lamaha Gardens to Rum In Her Crack's house for the On On.

10 Virgins were deflowered at this On On, and technology users and hand holders were justly punished!!!!

This upcoming Sunday run will be held up at Timerhi, close to the race circuit. We will be spending the day up there, so be prepared and bring swim gear.

Meet at the British High Commission at 9.00am on Sunday 6th June 2010. Transport up to Timerhi with one of the hashers.

Hash Cash $2,000.00 per person for the day.

The Bartica "Run"

Here we are again the postmortem on yet another hash!!!!

Well, as always, the hash met at the British High Commission for 12 noon, and guess what ... everybody was late except the White people!!(Jerry White and kids) So we hung around waiting for the hares and a few others such as the NCN crew who turned up fashionably late (at least one half of it... the other half (the one with the camera) turned up very late).

So there we are, sitting around in front of the British HC having our photos taken by the security cams (and probably being marked down as suspicious loiterers) waiting for a hare who eventually never turned up.

We had to pick her up at the Harbour Bridge!!!!

Anyhow we finally left the BHC in a minibus hired for the occasion by Sefa our number one hare.
12 people in the bus up to the bridge, 9 adults and 3 kids bouncing along , we get to the bridge and settle down to wait for our number 2 hare who was on her way down from Linden. Rum In Her Crack decides that she is hungry, so everyone hops out and goes across the road to M&M's just as soon as we cross the road, who should turn up but our wonderful No. 2 hare S... M. S... M.(name disguised to protect innocent eyes). Anyway we top up on snacks and proceed on our merry way to Parika to get a speedboat to Bartica (in case you didn't know speedboat taxis are the only way of getting to Bartica if you don't want to spend about 4 - 6 hours on the ferry, or if you just really don't feel like driving the couple of hours through the rough trail that will take you to Bartica and then still have to use a small ferry to cross the river.

Arriving safely at Parika after an hour's drive filled with spirited conversation on a wide range of subjects, such as who wears makeup, and who was sleeping with whom in Bartica, we found that there was a serious shortage of transportation due to allof the speedboat captains most likely having partied too much and Bartica the night before and not remembering where they parked their boats!!

So finally at about 4.30pm some 3 hours after leaving town, and after having stood on the stelling steps for 2 hours in the BLAZING sun, we finally got a boat and headed for Bartica.

The original plan was to have a Saturday afternoon run, have an ON ON and then explore Bartica night life. Well so much for the afternoon run!! Bartica is 1 hour away from Parika on a boat with two 200 Hp outboard engines!!

So the boat dropped us off at the Bartica stelling, and we got a bus that took us down to the very last building on the Essequibo side of Bartica called Bidrabhu (pronounced Bid Rah Boo) house, a very nice 5 bedroom house right on the river with a swimming pool ... reasonable too for US$260 for the whole house.

Dinner that had been ordered earlier came in from a hotel in Bartica, and after some hot showers, we dined with a great views of the river (slightly blocked by about 1 million trees) and sat around and talked for about an hour or so before changing go go check out the nightlife.

The night life (such as it as) we found to be surprisingly sparse and very very loud for the most part, but we were lucky enough to catch the last part of the Ms. Bartica Regatta pageant prelims, which were entertaining enough.

Later we hung out a bar at which point, one of our temp hashers put her foot in it!! Literally!! She stepped in to a 3 foot deep open drain which she didn't see in the dark just outside the bar and messed up her ankle ... the hash hasn't even started and one down to injuries!!

That effectively put an end to our revelries for the night and we headed back to the house. Jerry, having the kids along, opted not to go on the night life tour, and met us at the door very surprised to see us back so early. We hung out, drank some of the hash staple Banks Beer (blessed be the golden brew!!) and crashed for the night.

Next morning after breakfast, the hash opted to go on a cross country walk in lieu of the regular paper marked trail (less one injured), and travel from the Essequibo River to the Mazaruni River, through town and jungle, without the benefit of a guide!!

Well after about 2 hours of heavy jungle, hot sun, hills, tracks, old broken roads, good new roads and over grown pine tree plantations we finally made it to our destination, on the banks of the Mazaruni river, less than 15 minutes drive away from Bartica!!! A great beach down there at the bottom of a big hill which even the minibus driver feared to attempt. There was a good view of the Mazaruni Prison and the old ferry which was turned into a prison boat.

We bought drinks to quench the major thirsts that had built up during our walk, purchased from one of the residents, and we spent time under a huge laden mango tree just enjoying the breezes from off of the river, while we waited for the bus to pick us up.

At the on on, we decided that Sefa was due her hash name, and suggestions were written down in the book. This is still incomplete, as insufficient names were thought of by the inebriated hashers!!

Lunch (another meal from the Hotel) and more beer before packing up and hopping into the bus for a quick trip to get a boat which at 5pm was cutting it a bit close since boats are not supposed to be on the water after 6pm. We got a special and loaded up (in the process forgetting one of our precious crated of beer in another boat (since rectified) and headed down to Parika.

A bus back to town after a rough ride on the river, and a bunch of very tired but happy hashers headed home.!!!!

The Return of fun

Well people,This it is! The penultimate day before the Bartica Hash, and we have a grand total of 10 persons.

A lot of noise in the background about "yes we want to go, but..."

Get up off your tukhusses and get.

We meet at the BHC on Main street at 12.15pm on Saturday 20th March ... yes that's tomorrow...
and from there, minibus to Parika, speedboat to Bartica, walk to the Guest house/Hotel/whatever, Lunch, relax a bit, do a run (in the Jungle I believe) back at the Guest house/Hotel/whatever we have the On On, sinners will be punished and hares will be punished even more!!!! Party and generally have fun that night. Breakfast bright and early the next morning (Sunday 21st), recover slightly and then another run ... maybe even a jungle run .. lunch (dont know whether that is covered in the costs) and then Speed boat back to Parika, Minibus back to town.

There you have it..... our itinerary in a knutshell!!!!

Those of you who have not already paid up, please bring the money to the BHC Tomorrow, and by the way, the hash cash has been cut back to $2000.00.

As you may have noticed, we haven't had a run for the year.... mainly coz the first one got postponed.

It's bbbaaaaaaaaaaackkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Bartica Hash bigger and badder than ever!!

Seifa and Belinda (Suck Me Suck Me) have finally gotten it together and gone up to Bartica to sus. out the run site.
I am told that the Run will be held on the weekend of March 20 - 21st.

Hashers and prospective hashers please be informed that this run will be taking place in near jungle, and for the most part I believe that we will be camping out with the anacondas and tarantulas!! Hotel accommodation in Bartica is available, and can be arranged for those of you toooo namby pamby to spend time feeding the local wildlife!!!!

Costs of the run will include 1) Minibus from G/T to Parika 2) Speedboat transportation from Parika to Bartica return,
3) Lunch, Dinner and Breakfast on Sunday 4) Hotel costs (optional) (a tent or hammock is free in the jungle)
5) plus hash cash of $2,500.00

Let us know real soon (by this time next week) if you are coming and if you want Hotel accommodation, catering for the food is necessary.

The Hash Party

Well the second Guyana Hash House Harriers Xmas party went off quite well, with about 20-23 people attending at the Dutch Bottle Cafe on Church Street.

Lots of people that we know about who were in country did not attend, wether they just plain forgot or wether they just plain fell asleep like Micro Orgasm and his wifey claim they did, or just never got the email .... (please if you want to get emails from the hash letting you know about upcoming runs, email us at guyanahhh@gmail.com, and we will add you to the list.) they just did not appear.

Any how the Mismanagement Committee and I want to wish you seasons greetings, Merry Xmas and an extremely happy and profitable New Year!!

The Next run of the GH3 will be in January 2010, and it will be a weekend run in Bartica (a gold mining based town that is the capital of Region 7, situated at the junction of the Essequibo and Mazaruni rivers,).

That means that we leave Georgetown on Saturday morning, get to Bartica, settle into our location (usually a camp out site, or for those namby pamby ones a guest house or hotel), thensome time after lunch we suffer through the run that the hares have inflicted upon us, have the On On at some unspecified location, after which there is the all night party session in Bartica (usually) for those still up to it!

Sunday is designated as recovery day, although sadistic hares have been known to put us through another run in the morning!!!

Thank God for the BANKS hare of the dog!!!!!

Well the last run went off quite well despite there being only 10 runners. Hares were Gypsy Bitch, JohnSingh and Mrs Singh!

We left the BHC at 10.00 and went up to Mon Repos, thru Melsha furniture store street down to the back, parked the cars, and then headed off on the run.

The paper trail set by John Singh led us down behind Mon Repos and into the cane fields, around and over trenches, through the sugar cane,( killing about 20 pounds worth of sugar cane in the process!!!), along the naim irrigation canal, over and into punts (with a "P" you dirty minded sod), then back out in to Mon Repos and the cars.

The On ON was held at the National Park, with lots and lots of food (big shrimp no less) pork, beef, fish, puri and cookup!!

3 virgins were deflowered, 2 sinners justly punished, and the hares given an 8.5 for their efforts.

The next run will be in 2 weeks: that is October 4th 2009 meet at the BHC at 3pm in the afternoon. Swimming gear may be required, so please make note!!

The Hare for this run will be Jerry White and brood!!

The Mahaicony Hiccup

Well after some hiccups, the hash finally got going for the last run up to Mahaicony ... got up there at about 11.30 am in blazing hot sun.

Then another wait for further runners and food prep drink prep, and we were off in the blistering noonday sun!!

A hot sweaty hard walk / run in and around rice fields, which thank God were pretty much dry.

A total of 1 1/2 hrs gruelling trudging with the occasional run and walk, with the sun sapping the life out of your body, lots of sunscreen applications, and water required for this run.

At the End we were at the GRDB Burma Sports Club, where 20 runners/walkers then proceeded to cool down with numerous Banks (blessed Brew). 9 virgins were deflowered in front of the gathered Hash, 4 sinners were roundly punished (straight Vodka), and the hares responsible for the debacle were rewarded.

The Next run will be on Sunday 20th September 2009, Meet at the BHC at 9.30am.

Well People, those of you who didn't come to the Linden run missed out on a good one!!

25 runners and 2 johnny come laters turned up.

Got off to a late start (as usual) left the BHC at about 10.30am, and got up to Linden about 11.50, then had to wait while the hares got themselves organised with the drinks etc.

Birdy Num Num and Suck Me, Suck Me did a good slightly short trail on the other side of Wismar.

Fresh running terrain .... never been done by the hash before!! ...
Parked the cars at a creek behind Wismar .... lot of people enjoying their Sunday there.

Ran through some old mine pits (slightly filled in) and across a ridge with lots of false trails criss- crossing the back trail, so some confusion, but all in all a good effort.

Ended up back at the Wismar creek but the noise level there had gone up too much, so we decided to go to one of the less crowded creeks on the highway for the ON ON.

The last hashers left the creek at about 7.00pm

Anyhow, The next run will be on Sunday August 30th. at 9.30am, meeting at the British High Commission to leave 10am sharp...no waiting for latecomers. If you need a ride, just meet us at the BHC or give the GM a call (619-7011)

Hash cash will again be $2000.00

We will be convoying up to Mahaicony, on the East Coast Demerara.

Hares will be Gypsy Bitch and Stephen Patterson.

The Agriculture Road Run

Well another hash come and gone, and things are looking up!!

We had a total of 27 persons on the last run (walk actually), 2 breakins on the vehicles, and a good time at the Enmore pool.

The Run was held Up Mon Repos Agri. Road from the Geddes Grant experimental/demonstration farm.

unfortunately, when we came out of the farm, two of the cars had been broken into!!! At the back of nowhere!!!

Ah Well Shite happens!

The Next run will be after Easter .... yes people are going to Lethem, unfortunately not with the hash, but there could be a hash in Boa Vista... who knows?

Thank you those of you out there who kept coming to the runs during thin times, and for the hares without whom there is no hash!!!!

Anyhow now that we are done with all that trash, the first run of 2009 will be held on Sunday18th January. Meet at the British High Comission at 10am, for convoy to run site. We will leave at 10.30 sharp. Hash cash will be G$2000.00

It will be an all day outing on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, and since it is the rainy season, please do bring swimming togs to take advantage of all that water!!!!

Another good hot day in the sun ...

The Hash met outside the BHC at 3.00pm as usual, but did not leave for the run site until 3.40pm coz the hares decided that since the run was a short one, we did not need to be there so early.

A grand total of 11 persons turned up for the run (actually a walk) which started at the old Golf Course club house, went down the dam which continued at the end of the road, past the Prison, up a false trail on the GuySuCo dam, around the prison alongside the aromatic east coast garbage dump, into one of the young cane fields, to the end of the field, ending there in a false right by a canal.

Back to the check point, up the dam running alongside the Golf course on the other side (not the side with the road) past a big stack of firewood surrounded by earth to be burnt for road/dam works for GuySuCo, up close to the end of the Golf Course, then the Hares decided that it would be a good idea to take the hash through a drainage trench (not an irrigation canal) that was filled with the effluent from both the garbage dump and the prison!!!

Gypsy Bitch and FRPB in an effort to persuade the hash to cross, waded through the waist deep muck, and went across the golf Course back to the start of the run, while the rest of the Hash, yours truly included, backtracked all the way around to where the cars were parked.

After a few drinks at the clubhouse, the On On was held on the seawall in front of Industry (Gypsy Bitch's area), and a good time was had by all.

3 virgins were deflowered right there on the wall and The HM was punished for not going through the trench!!

Run 575 - The Diamond Run

Location: Diamond Housing Scheme

Twas a grand day for Running in good old Georgetown, Guyana.

The sun shone brightly during the morning with the promise of more blistering heat to come.

Fortunately, the clouds had otherwise to say!!

At 3pm on Saturday 13th, the Hash met outside the BHC on main street. A wonderful total of 17 persons turned up (including the 2 hares). (The virgins outnumbering the experienced hashers by a margin of almost 3 to 1). At 3:20 wonders of wonders we were off, heading 8 miles out of town to the Diamond Housing scheme on the East Bank Of the Demerara River.

The turn off into the housing scheme was a little crowded with the ever present stalls selling everything under God's sun, then for the 2 mile drive down to the run site, right at the end of the scheme, bordering the GUYSUCO cane fields.

Along the Main dam that the trucks drive, for only a short distance, then it was into the brush and tall grass (across a small trench) along that dam for about 1/2 mile and then across the inevitable single plank wooden bridge (a much wider trench this time) and into the housing scheme.

This scheme is very big, and it is possible to get lost (thank goodness for the hares laying paper).
Fortunately, no one did get lost, and all made it out of this part of the housing scheme almost completely intact!! (Lauren did have her heels partially amputated by her shoes!!)

Across the main road to the southern part of the housing area, through more streets, across yet another ditch (more or less dry this time) and back onto the GUYSUCO dam, with the cars about 1/2 mile away.

On On was at Rum in Her Crack's place with her being absent until the very end!!

A special occasion, with Stephan Nglunkit getting his name after 7 years of coming and not coming to the Hash ... May "Eager Beaver" wear his name in perpetual good health!!!!

Afterwards, at Gypsy Bitch's suggestion, some of us ended up in a Chinese Karaoke Bar in Kitty ... how he finds these places I will never know!!

Run 573 - The Industry Run

Location: Industry, East Coast Demerara.

3 pm at the BHC as usual, and you ever vigilant ever present Hash Master waited in vain for a crowd worthy of his presence!!!

A Grand total of Seven people turned up!!!!

Ahhh, Summer hols ..... Phooey!!

Anyway, Lady's Bitch took Swampy and wifey to go collect the food then to meet the rest of the hash at Industry in front of Gypsy Bitch's house. Of course, with only 2 possible roads to travel up the east coast, they got lost!!

Anyhooo, they finally turned up at the run site, and the Hash took off for a hectic walk!

Averaging about 3 miles an hour, (I saw snails passing us and laughing!!!), the hash wended it way through the streets of Industry, the nighbouring village of Ogle, then out to the seawall, with a short stop to climb a Koker (rusting and decrepit) thence along the new Rip-Rap seawall being built by BK int. back to Gypsy Bitch's place. Stopping long enough to imbibe two brews, we then took off for Lady's Bitch's place, where we got the guided tour of his bedrooms (4 of them), his well decorated living room(done by him!!) and his driveway(which shortly stank of beer).

The circle (skeletal as it was) was done in great good humour .. the Hares were punished for their contribution to the decadence befalling the Hash and got an 8 on the hash scale rating.

The rest of the evening passed by quietly, disturbed only by rumours of the formation of a new Political party to contest the upcoming 2011 elections ... The Members of the Mismanagement committee hereby deny any affiliation with this Party!!!! (unless there is lots of free beer of course!!)

Next run due date around the 9th of August, but no volunteer Hares as yet.

Run 572: The Pig Shiggy Run

The day dawned bright and rainy on Sunday, which probably accounted for the massive under attendance at this run, most hashers being made of Sugar and Salt!!

Anyway, the hash left the BHC at about 11.45 and drove up to the Timerhi race circuit, where a blistering hot SUN was shining, and proceeded to spend the rest of the day in said SUN!!!

A small mixup in instructions resulted in Tinky Winky getting lost on the in trail, and therefore the run itself started slightly late. ... What else is new!?!?!?!?!

Off we go with 2 new hashers, one an import (Friar Fuck) from Virginia.

Along slightly damp sand trails ... first off a nice false trail that all of the hash fell for except Friar Fuck!!

Easy running/ jogging/ walking all the way. Almost no bush worth talking about until close to the end, and even that was low down and still mostly sand, right up to the tiny, shallow little creek that ran along side of the PIG FARM!!!!

Crossing that creek was interesting... obviously this farm has been in existence for quite some time!!!!

Back up the hill, past Winston's place, where we stopped to climb a tree and pick a big, at, hhhhheeeeaaaavvy ripe Koa (Jak Fruit for the rest of the world). Carrying that was a B - - - -!!!

The run was about 35 - 40 minutes long and we got to the Fung-A-Fat farm in good order, had the circle done with, punished the sinner (Bridge Bouncer) for questioning the length of the 1/2 mile false trail, punished Airbag Kisser (nee Dog Trainer) for completing her final exams, and thence into the pool where frizbee and ball were played with great abandon for the next 4 hours in the sweet hot SUN.

The Last hasher left the Farm around 5pm (that being myself) following close behind the other 4 vehicles as the last rays of the setting SUN lighted the evening sky, and the parrots and parakeets flew overhead.

I hear the weather in G/town was rather wet that day.

Never mind , Bridge bouncer and son finally got their run in Uitvlugt over and done with!!

The Hashers turned up on a very overcast Saturday afternoon (1.30pm) in front of the BHC. With a Grand total of 15 persons including the hares, we were off , over the surprisingly well re tarred Georgetown Harbour Bridge, 22 kilometers to Uitvlugt Sugar Estate.

Parking in the Club compound ... around the back you damned hashers!!

After some consultation with the GM/RA, the hares decides to do the whole original trail, rather than the wimpy alternate trail that they had set, and the Hash was off, the whole group including the crew of 7 Russians (we have been missing you) ... at a rapid wwwaaaalllllkkkkk!!!

Down the road, past the tractor park, where our resident Ansa McAl rep. Birdy Num Num noted the large quantity of tractors that his company had supplied, and commented that he hoped that GuySuCo was maintaining them properly, so he wouldn't get any complaints.... ...Birdy ... your tractors are shite anyway!!!

Past the ghost town of a factory, closed down for out of crop maintenance, down to the back dam, and MUD!!

YAY!!

Finally a hash worthy of our time!

First off along a very muddy track along about 200 (empty) punts .. not the c word you!! Good going at a rapid walk, until you come to the false trail sign!!!!

Back to the Check, off onto a much better trail, the mud has pebbles in it!!
1 1/2 miles of straight muddy track!!!! Gaining weight with every step as GuySuCo mud tenaciously clung to our shoes.

Slogging along the canal, over the high wooden bridges, sliding down the opposite sides, we finally got to a TURN!!

Another 1/2 mile of straight muddy trail, then we find ourselves at the Old Leonora sugar factory ... nothing left there now except a large brick chimmney and a defunct cargo crane. Metal scavengers have been through this area very thoroughly. One of the Russians is seen using her cell on the trail (hah! punishments for you later my girl!!!).

Out along the track to the Main road, (Sperm Bank and a virgin hasher disappearing into the village, not to be seen again until the end of the run) across, past the Leonora Police Station, and up onto the sea wall.

Turning right on the wall, we proceed, heading East, past a little shrimping village .. no shrimp drying ... too wet, but the fantastic aroma!!!!

Up a koker, the view from the top was quite surprising!!

Back on the trail, now heading back South and then West, uneventful, easy walking ... perhaps too easy?

We get back to Uitvlugt Club at about 5.30pm after having spent over 2 hours on the trail, damp, muddy, but in good spirits!!

The two vanished hashers were at the club scarfing down our hard earned beers, along with Marco (DNR).

The rain started up about 15 minutes before we got in, adn it ended up being too cold and dark for anyone to go swimming, so we had the circle .. the run was given a 10 on the Hash scale.

Two virgins were dedflowered before the GM, the Hares were given their just desserts, and them, changing hats The Dreaded RA brought retribution down upon the Heads of the sinners ... glasses of straight xm rum, drunk on their knees without hands for the shortcutting bastards, standing shots of hot rum for the tech users (2) and for the one person whoo dared wear thier hat in the circle while the GM was conducting proceedings!!

Dinner, cooked by Claire, BridgeBouncer's wife (who by the way, was conspicuous by her absence from this affair!) was gobbled up, dominoes played and a good time was had by all!!

Plaque commemorating the commissioning of the Moco Moco hydropower station in November 1999. The 0.50 megawatt was a US$3 million joint project of the Chinese and Guyana governments. The Chinese provided the engineering expertise and loaned the money for the project. The Chinese handed the facility over to the Lethem Power Company on 24 April 2003.

"Tag you're it!" Wait, that's a different game.

The tube on the left is the penstock (water conduit) for the hydropower facility. It is 644 meters (2113 feet) long. The pipes are 630 mm (2.0 feet) in diameter.

972 steps; we're almost there!

Made it! Note the missing section of tube. On 7 July 2003--ten weeks after the Chinese handed over the facility to Guyana--a landslide busted up the penstock and the hydro-electric power station has been out of commission ever since. Seems the engineers had not bothered to stabilize the slope before building the penstock. It never occurred to the Chinese engineers that torential rains (which are about as rare in Guyana as hot days) might cause landslide on these very steep and unstable slopes. Or maybe they handed it over because they did know it was about to bust???

Bouncing Bikini is in Poke-Her-Hontas' hammock again this morning. But this time there's three!

The Takatu River Bridge, under construction since the 1990s, and almost finished.

In the meantime, most traffic uses the pontoon ferry.

These hashers opted for a motorized canoe. Wonder if they checked through immigration and customs?

Brazil! Where the main roads are paved, they have a regular garbage collection service, 24-hour electricity and a steady water supply, and businessmen are ready for tourists.

Lethem Easter Rodeo Hash

I had a great time hashing with Georgetown hashers in Lethem. What an experience, I am really glad that I went on this hash.

We set off at approximately 3.00am on Thursday 20th April, and some 22 – 23 hours later, and after several stops along the way for food and beer and more importantly for a good stretch, we arrived in Lethem at about 2.00am on the 21st April. We had descended on D’Aguiar’s (Georgetown hasher Paul’s parents), house in Lethem. I wonder if they knew what they were letting themselves in for.

The namby pamby hashers’ amongst us carried on to hotel accommodations; others set about pitching tents and preparing to go to sleep. However, there was one more thing we all had to do, and that was to wash Guyana out of us. The red dust was everywhere, even in ones mouth. My hair felt like someone had discharged a whole tin of hair spray in to it.

Surprisingly, everyone seem to be up and about fairly early. Paul’s parents had already semi-prepared the breakfast, as they did every morning, and involved in some way, in most meal we had in Lethem that we didn’t pay for. They were simply wonderful.

Our first hash was to Moca Moca Hydropower dam (waterfall). The Hydropower plant was not in operation, as some movement earth had damaged the pipe works and the steps to the dam.
The clime wasn’t really that hard, and was well worth the effort. The view from the top was beautiful, but the best thing was being able to take a dip in cool refreshing water after that somewhat arduous clime. About an hour later we all went down for the barbeque (cooked by Paul’s sister), lots of beers and our first down downs. There were many down downs, but I feel I must mention one in particular. This involved Henry and his flashing sneakers. Colin quite rightly launched one of Henry’s sneakers on the slow moving river. I only managed to get one picture of this where Henry is holding up the sneaker that he had rescued (kodakgallery).

The second hash took us to Bon Fin, a border town in Brazil. The hares were former Georgetown hashers “Suck Stache” and “Rubber Duckie”. The hash was along the river (Takatu River?) bank and at the end cool refreshing dip in the river. Not long after words, we went back to their place for a delicious meal wash down with lots of beer.

We left Bon Fin at about 3.00pm and arrived back at D’Aguiar’s place at about 5pm – 6.00pm.
On third and our last day in Lethem we went to the Rodeo. We got back late afternoon/early evening. After shower and change of clothes; we enjoyed a beautifully prepared barbeque by Paul’s mum and dad. Some of us didn’t go to sleep as we were scheduled to leave at about 2.00am. Another bumpy and dusty ride lay ahead of us.

After few stops for food and drinks and a canopy walk and passage of 22 hours later we arrived back in Georgetown at about 2.00am. By the time I reached my temporary home (Colin’s mothers house), it was 3.00am and end of wonderfully adventures Lethem Easter Rodeo Hash.Only one thing is left to mention, and that to thank Colin and his mother for their hospitality.

Run 563 - Rum Till I Die

It has been a while since my last post....you will notice that these are all old runs....because there are no hares to set new runs!!!! Never mind, the hash will not die, although it does look kind of shrivelled right now!!

Run 563 This was the last Rum-till-I-Die run of 2007... November 3rd.

We met as usual at the BHC 3.00 pm on a Saturday afternoon........ but as usual, did not leave to go on the run until God knows what time!!!

Here we are waiting for others to turn up at the BHC. Not an uncommon occurrence these days.

After finally leaving the High Comission, the hash proceeded on its arduous course.... running the extremely long distance of 600 meters to get to the first drink stop ..... WINDIES on Middle Street. The drink was of course a straight shot of cold 5yr old DDL Gold Medal winning rum.

Having suffered through its first shot, the aspiring hashers betook themselves down the road, all the way to Camp Street and JERRY'S, where they recieved their second shot....... yet another cold 5yr old.

Along with the rum, Black pudding was served ... yum!!

Off again, all the way back to middle street (150 feet) and the TIC-TAC Restaurant and Bar, where the ebullient hashers took yet another shot .... this time, icy cold IVANOFF vodka, out of the TIC-TAC's freezer.
Now I know ... just like everyone else in the civilized world, that Russians like Vodka, so why does Alli (leaning against the bar in a hat) not drink it? He, it seems has defected to DDL 5yr old!!

And here, enjoying theirs shots to the fullest it seems are from left: Lube Job, a virgin,
ChocoMakki, Gypsy Bitch, Marco and Rebel.

Finally, the Hash left TIC-TAC and hastened on its way to the next stop. Seen here is Ground Zero ... the Alberttown Fire Station!! Some how I don't think the poor Firemen knew what hit them!!

This was a much longer hop than all other stops combined so far, plenty of time for the hashers to build up a thirst!!!! Note the ravening hordes of hashers coming down the road,

and swarming around the mobile drink stop!!!! By the way the fire station is right next to the police station! (Blue & white building.)

Having exhausted the possibilities of the Mobile stop (another shot of ICY COLD Vodka), the swarm begins its long journey to yet another watering hole.

On the way, they encountered baricades;

and difficult cross country stretches.

Finally, after suffering through privations and tribulations, a watering hole!!!

Again the hash was treated to ...... wait for it ...... a shot of 5yr old!! in the dim, dank recesses of the DUTCH BOTTLE CAFE.

Then once again out into the cruel harsh weather

along lonely, tortuous trails, fraught with danger;

Through over grown pathways hung with all sorts of flora, and populated by all types of fauna;

Run 563 - Rum Till I Die Run Part 2

After surviving the terrible jungle trails, we wended our way through miscellaneous valleys;

Ambling along in the fading sunlight.

Then back into the jungle for another shot at the overgrown trail.

Stopping along the way to perhaps look at the flora; and to take a breath of relief at having made it through!! Either that or catching flies Rebel!!!!

Up treacherous slopes;

Now at the top of this steep trail, was the promised land!!

No pictures, we will leave it to your imagination ... something this sacred should not be profaned by common photographs. Suffice it to say the Hash imbibed the GOLDEN BREW by the jug full, and asked for more!!

Finally, after a long period of debauchery, the tired hashers wend their way back through the trails, lit by fireflies;

Stopping at an animal trail waiting till its safe to pass .. those big ones are dangerous at night ...

Phew made it across safely ...

Back to the vehicles;

We are alive back at the cars!!!!

Back at the ONON, the newbies, having lost their virginities somewhere on the trail introduce themselves a bit more formally,

Have their first official drink as members of the Georgetown Hash House Harriers;

and receive the blessings of the group!!

Sunday On the Highway

Rum In Her Crack's Sunday Run!!!!

Beautiful Sunday for a Hash Run. Twelve the number of souls who showed up at the BHC. Four the number who unceremoniously left their fellow hashers because they couldn't tolerate Rum in her Crack's tardiness---they waited for an hour at the BHC, then said fuck off to the hash.

Rum in Her Crack showed up some 5 minutes later and was determined to get this thing going with the remaining eight. Chop Suzuki joined the procession at Grove and loaded up his car with food and drinks.

Got to the run spot--somewhere near Lopes farm and Emerald tower on the Sosedyke Highway. Run (I mean walk) lasted for about an hour, then we headed to the "umbrella" creek. Had lots of sandwiches and hot dogs to go with the almighty Banks Beer--true heaven that was.

Next stop was the the creek for a swim. The photos tell the whole story; no need for me to babble.

One virgin got 'high" after just two beers and almost walked into the path of a car on the highway.

Names were given out and the lucky girl was called "Sucky, Sucky" --hmmm.. I wonder why?

After lots of laughs and more Banks beer, it was time to close another chapter of the Georgetown Hash House Harriers.
